Welcome back to Doing Different with Kimmie, the space where we celebrate the brave, the curious, and the people who choose to step outside the box and rewrite what life looks like in their next chapter. Today, I’m sitting down with someone who embodies reinvention, courage, and creativity — author Bonnie Blaylock.
Bonnie is a storyteller who stepped boldly into her “Act 3,” permitting herself to pursue something she’d always wanted to do. Her books, her voice, and her journey are touching readers everywhere. And today, she’s sharing what “Doing Different” means to her. When Bonnie talks about Doing Different, she describes it as stepping out of expectations, throwing fear into the back seat, and choosing to live out loud.
Her turning point came during the empty‑nest stage — a moment when she finally allowed herself to take writing seriously and chase a long‑held dream. Bonnie believes nothing in life is wasted. The technical jobs she held in her 20s, the relationships she built, the grief she walked through, and the caregiving challenges she faced — all of it became material for her stories.
Her books aren’t autobiographical, but they’re deeply informed by her lived experience. She’s also read thousands of books, absorbing the craft of storytelling over a lifetime. Every chapter of her life has contributed to the writer she is today.
Friends, grab her books, and stay tuned for the giveaway. And remember — Doing Different isn’t about perfection. It’s about permission. Permission to grow, to shift, to reinvent, and to live out loud. If you want to follow Bonnie’s work or connect with her community, you can find her here:
